How to properly pack packages?
With advice on how to properly pack your shipments, Overseas Express aims to prevent potential package damage. Follow the simple instructions that will help you correctly pack the products you are sending to the recipient. It is in your interest to properly pack the goods you are sending to avoid damage, as a well-packed package is safe from damage.
The sender is obliged to pack each shipment in a way that protects its value and prevents damage. The choice of packaging materials and packing method must correspond to the contents, type, dimensions, weight, and value of the shipment, as well as the distance over which the shipment is transported. Properly and correctly packed parcels protect the shipment during transport and ensure safe delivery to the destination. Transport handling is performed using industrial technology; therefore, we do not recommend sending parcels that are not suitable for transport on conveyor belts.
Overseas Express assumes responsibility only for parcels that are packed appropriately.
To properly pack your parcel, please pay special attention to the following:
- The cardboard box must be sturdy and undamaged and capable of supporting the weight of other parcels during transport. Do not use packaging that has previously been wet, even if it appears dry at the time of packing.
- The contents must not touch the outer carton (place the contents in the center of the box with a few centimeters of space from the outer edges).
- Wrap the goods with Styrofoam, foil, bubble wrap, or similar materials to prevent movement of the contents inside the transport packaging.
- Glass components must not touch each other. Bottles must be separated with dividers from top to bottom and additionally wrapped with cushioning material.
- If you are sending liquids, be sure to first pack them in a leak-proof bag (plastic or similar) so that even in the event of damage, leaked contents do not damage the rest of the shipment or other parcels.
- Make sure that one person can independently handle your package.
- Pack the goods so they can be transported in any position and not in a way where transport safety depends on the box orientation.
- In the case of items with unusual or irregular shapes, all sharp edges and protrusions must be wrapped and taped to prevent damage to other parcels during transport.
- If using reused cardboard packaging, all old labels and parcel markings must be removed to ensure timely delivery to the correct address.
- Shipments may be sealed using glue, adhesive tape, or similar materials, depending on the type and value of the contents.
- Shipments submitted in sealed envelopes must be secured so that their contents cannot be removed without visible damage to the envelope and sealing materials.
- If you do not have original packaging, it is recommended to place the item in a larger box filled with Styrofoam and rigid cardboard in several layers to fully eliminate the possibility of damage.
Palletized goods must be stacked and protected as follows:
- Goods on a pallet must be packed in appropriate packaging, with the heaviest items placed at the bottom and lighter items toward the top.
- Goods or boxes must not exceed the dimensions of a Euro pallet, and the entire pallet load must be secured with stretch wrap.
